C&O Canal x2, part 1

June 2nd, 2008

Session Date: May 24, 2008
Location: Georgetown, DC
Photographer: Loun-Loun

Over the beautiful holiday weekend, Grace and I had two photoshoots back to back in one afternoon. We had a couple of eager brides who had both happened to decide just a few weeks before the big day that an engagement session with the “Girls” would be just the right touch to add a little sparkle to their wedding day!

Our first couple, Joan and Ben were so easy to work with despite their frustrations with trying to find parking in crowded Georgetown on a gorgeous, sunny afternoon. This was my first shoot along the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal, so I was excited to see what I could, well, see! I’ve posted one of my favorite photos from J&B’s shoot which features quite prominently one of the aqueducts, now bridges, that the canal is known for.

Did I mention that it was a gorgeous sunny day? Had to post this one too since I just loved the light play so much. The effect is fantastic, sunny washed out, romantic and Joan looks pretty happy about it too.

a private moment

Alright, one last “favorite” from the bunch. I’ve been playing around with some Photoshop actions and decided to try a few to enhance this photo. The original doesn’t nearly this dramatic, but I really love the cool, faded look that I’ve achieved. It’s a different style of romantic lighting.

Enough about what I liked, which ones do you like? More yummy photos of J&B only a click away!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Unfortunately long overdue, my photos from Luci and Ryan’s photoshoot from a few weeks ago. Thank goodness for long weekends when I get a chance to take a break, breathe, and write a post or two!

Although I’ve been a resident of the DC area for a total of over 18 years, Luci and Ryan still managed to introduce me to lots of new places to explore. In addition to being a race car driver, Ryan is also an outdoor enthusiast and active cyclist, so he knows all the ins and outs of the parks and bike trails that run along the Potomac River. This is a collage that I pulled together from a couple of shots taken at Haines Point. I really like how the two photos, when put together, tell a concise story.

Another ring collage for Luci & Ryan

I just had to include this one too since it makes me chuckle. I call it (Ryan giving me his best) “Blue Steel” impression (from the movie Zoolander)!

Here are a few more photos for you to enjoy, including the obligatory DC area monument shot!

Following a race car driver - Ryan and Luci

April 29th, 2008

The shoot from this past weekend was for another one of Ted’s co-workers (like Doug) - Ryan and his fiance Luci. Ryan is a weekend race car driver - and it was serious business trying to follow this guy ;p

Another interesting twist to this shoot was that Luci had to come face to face with her great fear - worms! Ryan was carrying her here so she could be “safe”

Should I say… Ryan took full advantage of this opportunity?

I love this one..

And this one..

L2 and I had to utilize the precious time in between Luci checking the wall for worms.. I think it worked out pretty well though.

And I’ll leave you with a “DC pride” picture…

Extra, extra! Read all about us!

April 21st, 2008

By now, most of you have heard the good FANTASTIC news! The Girls have been featured on Weddingbee.com, one of the most popular wedding portals online today.

Extra, extra! Read all about us!

We had the good fortune of working with Miss Tiramisu, her fiance, and her schnauzer (aka Emily, Liam, and Duncan) in the beautiful City Dock area of Annapolis and got some great shots capturing the charm of the city in our first assignment “away” from the DC Metro area.

Grace, Claire, and I are so thrilled with the positive raves that we’ve been receiving from the energetic Weddingbee subscribers, as well as the “bees” themselves.

Exploring Annapolis - Emily and Liam

April 14th, 2008

So where do I start? Back in November when I posted an ad on weddingbee, Emily beat all records in the world and replied within 3 minutes. Being an avid weddingbee reader, it just reconfirmed to me how popular of a blog it was. With that, I introduce to you one of the “bees” - Miss Tiramisu!

We give her mad props for the smiles despite the cold weather and rain

And I introduce to you…Mr. Tiramisu

These jumping pictures turned out fantastic - almost every shot was blog-worthy.

Outside of McGarvey’s - one of Emily and Liam’s favorite restaurants in Annapolis!

I couldn’t get over these cute fire hydrants and got a little carried away ;p There must have been at least 20 pictures with fire hydrants in them. Not your typical engagement picture subject?

This one cracked me up - the background looks so fake and so real at the same time.

Claire and I had a great time in Annapolis - we even stayed after to enjoy some fresh calamari at McGarvey’s..mmMMMMmm!! Thanks Emily and Liam for introducing us to such a cute spot for photography!

Claira Craile

April 4th, 2008

I just realized that I never posted pictures from this Leesburg outing Craile posted about a while ago.

This was the first time I saw her Crumpler bag.. and I was totally jealous (then I bought one myself so I could be cool too)

Craile insisted on trying this whole “I take pictures while you squat and look up” thing.. I think it worked really well - but I have yet to work up the courage to ask a client to strike up this awkward-looking pose

This one Craile will yell at me and I’ll have to take down as soon as she sees it… so enjoy it while you can!
**as predicted.. it’s gone now!

Doug and Pam - long overdue!

April 2nd, 2008

I can’t believe how much I slacked off posting about this session. I was really nervous about this since they were early advocates of this blog and the big cameras - so we remedied that by taking way too many photos ;p

Doug is Ted’s co-worker and is super hilarious, and Pam has the best laugh ever. I just had to say that - they’re the cutest couple.

<a mce_thref=
Can you believe we found this? I put my new wide-angle lens to work on this one..

This one might look familiar.. ALMOST the same as Claire’s picture here

They changed outfit to show support for the Red Skins ;p

Gwynne and Chris..part II

April 2nd, 2008

Tag-ons to L2’s post below..

My favorite picture of the day - edited in iphoto - I’m not sure how Apple came up with such a wonderful low-end photo editing software. It’s so hard for me to move on!

This one is very “popular” according to flickr.. although I know L2 would say it looks like the Washington monument is sticking out of Chris’ neck….

Dogs need attention too

But perhaps too much attention?

I have to say these two were way excited about.. everything. I really like photo sessions with pets - I think it brings so much life and relaxes the people being photographed.

I know you miss the jumping shots..

Okay last 2 I promise..

Love this one..so cute

Here a pup, there a pup…

Gwynne found us through her sister Kiija who had a session with us earlier this winter. She loved our photos so much that she and her fiance Chris drove quite the distance from Pennsylvania to meet us!

Gwynne and Chris brought along special guests Indy and Mignon to join us for some fresh air at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial located near the Tidal Basin. Indy obviously loved all the attention and totally worked it for the camera!

We didn’t let Indy and Mignon steal the *whole* show. After about an hour, we had Gwynne and Chris just to ourselves and took full advantage of the unique architecture that the makes up the memorial. Granite blocks make for great seating areas!
